  • Evaluation

Please find attached my powerpoint presentation of my evaluation. i have encluded hyperlinks to specific websites that influenced my opening sequenceSacred Writing - evalutaion.

Personally i feel that my final piece worked really well. We managaged to meet the deadlines and create an opening sequence that intices the audience to watch more.

  • Sacred Writing

Here i have uploaded my final piece. Over all i am very pleased with it and i feel it conveys the message we were aiming for.

Please find my evaluation of the final product attached above.

  • Transferring Film

    5th May

Today i transfered my film using quick time converter and then burnt it onto a blank CD. I found out that you are able to convert your films into different formats depending on where you wish to show it. I managed to convert my film into one that can be used at home and one that is able to be uploaded to the internet.

Soon i will upload the opening sequence onto the blog.

  • Adding The soundtrack

    30th April

Today i watched the clips we had already edited together and made a couple of changes to the editing such as a longer scream at the end.
Now our film was edited together i added our chosen sondtrack. I had to go back through the other clips and adjust the sound so backround noise didnt overpower the track. I also needed to increase the sound on the scenes where she is in the phone box so the audience can cleary hear what is being said.

Once this was all done i made the soundtrack go louder at the end and then fade back down, creating a more dramatic end to the opening sequence. As our film is now complete we need to change it into the right file and copy onto a disc. This should all be done by the 5th may.

  • Editing

Having completed all the filming i can now begin to edit which shots we want and create the opening sequence of our thriller. As we filmed each shot 2-3 times we had a variety to choose from and therefore we were able to use the shots with the best quality.

While editing i needed to make sure each cut flowed properly and that the continuity was correct. I felt all our shots managed to fit together really well and created excatly what we wanted to portray to the audience; a vunerable women being followed.

Now our film is correctly edited together we can add the sound track and polish up any sections that appear weaker. I plan to do this on the 30th so the entire film is completed by the 31st.

  • Filming the Outdoor shots

    27th April

Since we had already filmed the office scenes the outside scenes needed to be shot in the same amount of detail. Straight away we came across a problem as the weather was different, however we felt this wouldn't cause to much of an issue as all the previous shots were filmed indoors.

Once arriving at our location we did a quick run through of what we wanted to achive and then began to film. Straight away we needed to take into account passersby an therefore tried to film alot of our shots while no people were around, however this was very time consumming.
Towards the end of our filming the battery began to run low and therefore i had yet another thing to be aware off while filming the shots we needed. Despite these difficulties i felt the filming went really well as we used a variety of shots that could be edited together in order to create the sense that our protaganist was in a rush and maybe being watched.

Now that all our filming is complete i need to upload it into final cut express so we can start to edit our film together.

  • Re-Filming - Office scenes

After our technical difficulties we decided to re-film. To begin with we watched back all our previous shots and then decided on how we could improve them; by adding more close-ups, facial expressions and a larger variety of different angles.

On Thursday 24th april we began to re-film the office shots. I felt this all went very well as we expierenced no major problems, apart from making sure at each angle everything looked the same in order for the continuity to flow. Overall i feel that these shots were much more indepth and created a better sense of the atmosphere than the ones before.

We plan to continue our filming on the 27th so we can do all the outside shots around Oxford centre.

  • Film name and titles

After unsuccesful being able to trsnfer our filming onto the macs, Emma and i decided to begin thinking of the films name. After alot of debaiting we decided on 'Sacred Writing', we felt this worked as it helps give a sense that there was something very secret and special about the file our actress downloads.

After figuring out the film name we uploaded our sound track and created our opening credits and titles. we decided on the font 'Baskerville' and decided to have the name 'crawl' across the screen. When this has reached half way the credits then begin to scroll up until the two eventually meet.

Hopefully we will soon be able to upload the filming and begin editing the whole piece together.

  • technical difficulties

Due to the new camera's not being able to sync with the laptops we can no longer transfer all our filming we have done to final cut express. However we have found a way to overcome this yet the quality may not be up to a perfect standard. We hope to have it all fully uploaded by the 17th march and then we can finally start editing it all together!

  • Sound Track

After searching for a sound track, we fond one that seems to co inside with our story. The track we hope to use is called 'goodnight, travel well' by the killers. Theres a point in the song where the tempo and pace picks up, hopefully we can time it so when this occurs its at the point where she finds the car and is being watched.

please find attached both website adresses for the video of our soundtrack and the lyrics:
